Lenovo is betting big on Windows devices. The company on Tuesday announced a range of Windows 10-powered laptops and desktops in its E, B, M, and S series. At the ongoing IFA event in Berlin, Germany the company on Wednesday announced the ThinkPad Yoga 260, the IdeaPad 100S, the IdeaPad 300, the IdeaPad 500, the Idea IdeaPad 300s, IdeaPad 500s, and the Miix 700 devices. All of the devices run Windows 10 out of the box. The firm has also launched new IdeaCentre desktops, and Yoga Tab 3 Android tablets.
Starting with the ThinkPad Yoga 260, it is the first Yoga model to ship with LTE capability. Being a Yoga device, it offers several modes including stand, tend, laptop to use your tablet. There’s a hinge that lets you adjust the position of display and keyboard.
As for the specifications, the ThinkPad Yoga 260 sports a 12.5-inch display and comes in two resolution options: HD and FHD. For the processor, the device comes with the following options: Intel Core i3, i5, to all the way up to the sixth-generation Intel Core i7 Skylake chipset. The laptop supports up to 16GB of DDR4 RAM, and up to 512GB SSD for internal storage. Also in the machine are two USB 3.0 ports, a Mini DisplayPort, an HDMI out port, and a 720p RealSense webcam that you could make use of with Windows 10’s Hello feature. It comes in black and silver colour options, and can run for up to 10 hours on a single charge. It will be priced starting from $949 (roughly Rs. 63,000), and begin rolling out from November.
The company also unveiled the ThinkPad Yoga 460, which starts from $1,049 (roughly Rs. 69,500), and will be available from October, adding a QHD display and discrete graphics option.
The IdeaPad 100S is a dirt-cheap Windows device. Sporting an 11.6-inch HD (slightly better at 1366 x 768) display, the device is powered by a low-powered processor, as you would imagine. It comes with an Intel Celeron N3050, paired with up to 4GB of RAM, and internal storage of 32GB. There’s one USB 3.0 port, and one USB 2.0 port, and the device could last for up to 8 hours on a single charge. It is priced at $189 (roughly Rs. 12,500).
The company also launched two new powerful laptops called the IdeaPad 300, and the IdeaPad 500. Both the laptops are available with 14-inch and 15.6-inch up to FHD displays. The IdeaPad also has a 17.3-inch variant with screen resolution of 1600 x 900 screen resolution. The IdeaPad 300 is powered by Intel’s sixth-generation Core processor (which comes coupled with either Intel’s HD graphics or AMD Radeon R5 M330 and up to 16GB RAM). You can also opt for Intel Braswell N3700 chipset (coupled with either Intel’s GPU or Nvidia GeForce 920 and up to 8GB RAM), if you like. The 17.3-inch variant comes with AMD Radeon R5 M330 GPU or Intel HD graphics.
Other features of the IdeaPad 300 include support for up to 1TB HDD or SSHD, with a one-megapixel RealSense Web camera. You also get two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI out port, and other standard connectivity features. The company says that the laptop can last for four hours on continous video playback on a single charge.
The IdeaPad 500 is very similar to the IdeaPad 300. It is powered by Intel’s sixth-generation Core i7 processor with either integrated Intel GPU or AMD Radeon R7 M360 GPUs and support for up to 16GB RAM. The device also comes with Intel RealSense webcam, and offers same four hours of continuous video playback on a single charge.
The IdeaPad 300S and IdeaPad 500S are, respectively, somewhat less-powerful variants of the IdeaPad 300 and IdeaPad 500. The IdeaPad 300s comes in up to 14-inch FHD display. It is powered by up to sixth generation Core i7 processor coupled with Nvidia GeForce 940M graphics or Intel’s integrated graphics, and support for up to 8GB RAM. It offers five hours of battery life.
The IdeaPad 500S comes with 13.6-inch (Intel/ Nvidia GeForce 920M GPU), 14-inch, and 15.6-inch FHD displays (Intel HD and up to Nvidia GeForce 940M GPus). It is powered by up to sixth-generation Core i7 processor, and supports up to 8GB RAM. The device can run up to four and a half hours on a single charge.
Alongside the laptops, the company also launched the IdeaPad Miix 700, which has a striking resemblance with the Surface Pro 3 tablet, which Microsoft launched in 2014. The Miix 700 sports a 12-inch FHD+ (2160 x 1440) display. It comes powered by Intel’s sixth generation Core m7 processor with same chipmaker’s graphics, and support for up to 8GB of RAM. The device comes with two camera sensors: both of 5-megapixel magnitude, placed at the either side of the tablet. The device supports up to 256GB SSD, and can last for up to 9 hours of continous local video playback. It has one USB 3.0 port, one USB 2.0 port, and a Micro-HDMI out port.
