AHMEDABAD: Education technologystartup AlmaMapper has raised about Rs 2.6 crore in seed funding from Oswal Techno Ventures LLP (OTVL).

The Ahmedabad-based company offers a free student utility platform that aims to provide an online ecosystem connecting students, teachers and campuses.

“It helps colleges with a much needed digital footprint at zero cost,” said AlmaMapper CEO Pankaj Kaul.

Kaul had cofounded AlmaMap per in August 2014 along with Chandra Mauli Sharma, a fellow alumnus of the Institute of Management, Nirma University.

The platform aims at solving everyday problems of students across the globe, be it seeking ad vice, knowledge sharing or stay ing abreast of all campus events.

The company has been tying up with strategic vendors which offer products and services focused nd services focused at the student community. The startup’s objective is to provide value deals to stu dents and provide a targeted customer base to vendors. It has signed memorandums of understanding with more than 40 colleges and institutes such as Bharti Vidya peeth, Navrachana University, ICFAI and St Xaviers.

The platform currently has a base of over 50,000 users and has offices in Pune and Ahmedabad.With the latest funding, AlmaMapper plans to scale up operations by entering new markets within India and across the world.

As per an IBEF report, India’s education market is worth $100 billion ( Rs 65,000 crore), of which higher education services account for about 60%.
