Asus ZenFone 2 Receiving Firmware Update, Brings Android for Work Support

Asus has started rolling out a firmware update for the ZenFone 2 smartphone which brings several improvements apart from adding Android for Work support. The Asus ZenFone 2 ZE551ML users will start getting an over-the-air notification about firmware update with version V2.20.40.164. The Taiwanese maker announced the update for the ZenFone 2 smartphone via its official ZenTalk forum.

The firmware update for the ZenFone 2 smartphone fixes video sound issue; Google Play stop service; microSD card issue, and fixes phone hang-up issue in Russia.

Some of the other fixes that the ZenFone 2 brings include PosteMobile NFC issue (for ZE551ML models only); improves Asus ZenUI launcher stability; improve cell broadcast stability, and fixes the failure to share Photo Collage picture via email. Additionally, the firmware update fixes volume control issue of YouTube when using Miracast as well as the issue of displaying wrong operator name when roaming and searching network. It also includes several app updates and also improves power usage of email app.

One of the biggest additions that the new update brings for Asus ZenFone 2 users is adding Android for Work support. To recall, Google’s Android for Work initiative was announced last year and is aimed to provide an integrated Android solution for management, productivity, and security to corporations. The platform lets users keep their personal data and apps separately from their work data and apps on a single Android device.

Last week, Asus started selling the ZenFone Max, the company’s latest ZenFone series smartphone in India. Priced at Rs. 9,999, the smartphone will be going on sale via online as well as offline retailers.
