Gigantic is one of the top free-to-play games coming to the Xbox One. We’ve seen what it looks like at E3, and we can’t wait to get our hands on it. Right now, the developers are working on the game, and it seems frame rate is more important than resolution.
The developers confirmed that 60 frames per second is more important to them than meeting the 1,080p demand by gamers. CEO of Motiga, Chris Chung, stated in a Reddit AMA that a resolution tradeoff is expected in the Xbox One version of the game to get it running at a smooth 60 frames per second.
“We’ll see, but I would expect some resolution compromises for steady 60 fps, especially in the thick of combat,” saysMO_Foehammer, tagged as Motiga vice president for product development.
There was also a question on whether or not Motiga was using DirectX 12 in Gigantic development, to that, Chung said the company is using DirectX 11.
Gigantic running at a lower resolution than 1,080p on the Xbox One should come as no surprise since the console is notorious for this. Since the launch of the device, several games have been running at lower than expected resolutions. On the other hand, this is not a problem for the PlayStation 4, which may be one of the reasons why the Sony console is ahead right now.
Gigantic is expected to be the first hit MOBA for the Xbox One. The game was showcased at E3 and garnered a lot of attention, most notably for its beautiful design and interesting gameplay.
Motiga had planned to launch a beta for Gigantic; however, those plans have been scrapped for the time being as the developer moves to improve the overall experience of the game before shoving it out into the public domain.
For those worrying about the game due to latest layoffs, the company has confirmed that everything is fine, and development should continue as planned.
The full game is expected to be available come 2016, so keep an eye out for that.
