And having seen a series of successful launches on Sony’s PlayStation 4 and Microsoft’s Xbox One, it appears the next isn’t that far away.
While PS4 gamers still have a little while to wait, Conan Exiles will soon be released on Xbox One.
August 16 is when Funcom plans to launch the new crafting title as part of Microsoft’s preview program, Sony PlayStation fans will have to wait until early in 2018.
It will be far from the finished product, although the development team have provided a sneak peek of what to expect next week.
A new trailer has been released, showcasing how the new title will look on consoles, and likely for most of its early access development.
Funcom have also confirmed that the Xbox One version is currently running at a relatively solid 30fps, with the UI is rendered at 1080p.
But for those hoping for some kind of Nintendo Switch title launch, Funcom have confirmed that there are no current plans in place for a launch,
While many might not know much about Conan Exiles, it certainly caused a stir when launched on PC.
Selling huge numbers in its first few months on the platform, it helped expand Funcom’s original console plan.
The popular PC survival game will make its Xbox Game Preview program debut on August 16, although it should be noted that it will remain in the beta phase until at least 2018.
It was also revealed that Conan Exiles will be an Xbox One X Enhanced title when the console launches this Fall, meaning that Funcom are likely planning a pacy development phase.
The Xbox One version of the game will be up to date with the PC when it arrives in August, with a free expansion launching alongside the new Preview Program title.
Tor Egil Andersen, Communications Manager at Funcom, had this to say on the matter: “We’re also releasing a massive free expansion update on the very same day that introduces a huge new land to explore, bringing the game out of the desert and into the cold, frozen highlands in the north.
“Conan Exiles is an open-world survival game set in the brutal lands of “Conan the Barbarian.” Here you have been exiled to a harsh desert, where you must build and dominate the lands around you to survive.
“You can either play alone in single-player, in co-op with friends, or on a private or public online server populated with dozens of other players.
“With the free expansion update, we’re adding over 50% to the available play area. The new lands are a huge departure from the sun-drenched deserts of the base game, and here you get to explore vast forests and towering mountain-tops. There’s new enemies, new resources, new building pieces, and much more.
“Game Preview is about constantly improving the game, adding new content, and testing new mechanics and is a great opportunity for us as developers to work with players on creating the game we all want to play.”
