Ending intense speculation, Sony Interactive Entertainment Inc. announced it will release the Project Q handheld device for the PlayStation 5 console by the end of the year.
The controller has an 8-inch high-resolution LCD display.
Project Q allows users to remotely play video games installed on their PlayStation 5 through a Wi-Fi connection.
It will hit store shelves in late 2023.
Details, including the price, will be announced later.
“At PlayStation, innovation is our passion,” said Jim Ryan, the president and CEO of SIE, in a video released May 25.
The Project Q will be the first handheld device in the PlayStation series since the PS Vita, which came out in 2011.
