Skype has announced a new update for its Android, iPad, and iPhone apps. The new Skype update bumps the version to 6.0 and is now available to download via Google Play (Android) and the App Store (iPhone and iPad). The company stresses that Skype has been redesigned to be more “natural and intuitive.”

Skype 6.0 for Android brings the Material Design interface, which was first introduced with Android 5.0 Lollipop. The new update brings a floating action button, which allows users to start a new conversation, whether starting a video call, audio call, chat, or sending a video message.

The update also enhances the search function in the Skype for Android update. The company notes that now users will be able find contacts and conversations much faster. Skype for Android has received messaging improvements which will now show how many unread messages have been there.

For iPad and iPhone, Skype claims that this is the best app released for the platform. Skype 6.0 brings a major redesign for both iPhone and iPad. The navigation has been tweaked with easier access to conversations. Skype 6.0 brings use of swipe gestures to make calls and manage messages.
